building:
I built my MSW with some modifications:
1) Motor mount for 300DF made from 1/16" ply is attached to the ply center piece.
2) Some EPP foam around the motor is removed for reducing prop noise.
3) Thin carbon sheets (pre-cured, uni-directional) are glued to each trailing edge uppersurface.
4) Several coats of water-based clear acrylic lacquer are applied to the ply center piece.
5) Factory supplied control wire rods are reinforced with carbon rods for solid control.covering:
The wing uppersurface is covered with yellow colored tape, undersurface is with red colored tape. The balsa elevons are covered by yellow Oracover. The ESC is not covered for better cooling.
wing tip modification
After several flights, I decided to enlarge wing tips to increase stability. I made new tips from red coroplast. Then My MSW was a bit tail-heavy so I cut top and bottom of the center ply motor mount.
